Abstract
In this study, it is aimed to examine the relation between time management skills and academic procrastination behavior of the students who are studying at School of Foreign Languages Department of Basic English and if students' level of time management skills predict their academic procrastination behavior. 479 students 345 of whom are women (%72) and 134 of whom are men have participated in the study. ‘Time Management Questionnaire' adapted by Alay and Koçak (2002) and ‘Academic Procrastination Questionnaire' adapted by Çakıcı (2003) are used to analyze the data. Descriptive analyses such as arithmetic mean, standard deviation and percentile value were used to analyze the data collected from the students. Multiple correlation analysis (Pearson Correlation Analysis) was used to determine the relation between the variables. Hierarchical regression was used to find out if the time management practices are predictors of academic procrastination. According to the findings of the study, there is a negative and meaningful relation at an average level between their time management skills and procrastination behavior. The results of the hierarchical regression show that the three factors of time management skills predict %46 of total variation of academic procrastination behavior.
