Abstract

The environmental education has an interdisciplinary perspective (DIAS, 1992), and in front of many environmental problems it is a necessity in elementary school. Educational games are used as assistence during the learning process and, because of their playful characteristics, they offer educational activities that can be more creative and motivating. This study aims to present the development of an eco-educational game that involves graphic and product design. It aims to sensitise and raise the awareness among the players about the enviroment and its issues. The game addresses issues of the environment in the city of São Paulo such as the scarcity of natural resources, improper disposal of waste and the pollution of the Pinheiros river. The game uses the capybaras that inhabit this river as the main character and as a recreational resource to contextualize the goal. Through a cooperative board game, it is aimed to arouse the interest and concern in the participants about the condition of Pinheiros river and the scarcity of natural resources in the city of São Paulo. In addition to the ecology and environmental education, the Project aims the integration and collaboration among the players, motivating them that they can actively take part in improving this situation.
