Abstract

Lack of cognitive and behavioral skills reduce psychological stimulation in humans contribute to the maintenance and chronization of insomnia. In this regard, at the moment, cognitive behavioral psychotherapy (CBT) is recommended as the first line of choice among non-drug approaches in the treatment of chronic insomnia. CBT may be useful for a number of sleep disorders, such as narcolepsy, restless leg syndrome and night food syndrome. However, only 30-40% of patients achieve complete positive remission after application of standard CBT protocols. The article presents the disadvantages of the «first» and «second» transmission wave. It is shown that the «third» wave of CBT can be an effective approach to minimize chronic insomnia, and therefore can be used as an alternative and/or additional treatment if the patient does not respond to the standard protocols of psychotherapy. The specific application of the «third» CBT wave (acceptance and responsibility therapy; metacognitive psychotherapy; awareness-raising therapy) is detailed on specific clinical examples. Two-level model of j excitation is described. Onga and S. Almera and model A. Shallcross and P. Viswanathan therapy enhance mindfulness (MBCT) to minimize cognitive and metacognitive risk of insomnia. It is emphasized that the third wave CBT should not be considered as a replacement of standard protocols, but rather as a Supplement for patients who have a deficit of cognitive-behavioral skills to reduce hyperexcitation or for those who do not respond to treatment.
