Abstract

This article presents a study of the legal regulation of operational search activities in Russia during the reign of Alexander II and his judicial reforms. There is an increasing role of the police in the detection, disclo- sure and investigation of crimes. In this period of time the system of criminal investigation bodies is laid. Atten- tion was drawn to the reactionary nature of the activities of the government of Alexander II at the end of his rule, which was associated with the growth of revolutionary sentiments in society. The author concludes that Alexan- der II carried out significant work in the field of regulating and ensuring operational-investigative activities, which at the end of his rule acquired a reactionary color due to the growth of anti-government sentiments in the country
