Abstract

This article discusses the features of adaptive behavior of children with early childhood autism. Modern research positions of authors studying the problem of socialization of children of this category are offered for consideration. The research is based on the analysis of views on the nature of autism by O.S. Nikolskaya, E.R. Baenskaya, and M.M. Liebling. A special place is given to the role of educational institutions, in particular institutions of extracurricular education and social and pedagogical centers. Educational institutions are a fundamental link for better integration of children with childhood autism in the social environment. The article also touches on the problem of modern inclusive education in Russia, mainly the specifics of including children with childhood autism in various social institutions. The article discusses the characteristic features of the process of social adaptation of children diagnosed with childhood autism. Here, the problem of limited adaptive resources of these children and the problem of forming adequate behavioral responses in them comes to the fore. In turn, an important point is a detailed consideration of the specifics of upbringing and interaction within families with a child with childhood autism. This article clearly demonstrates the features of choosing a parenting strategy in families with a special child and families with a conditionally healthy child. The paper describes a scheme for an experimental study of the adaptive behavior of children with childhood autism based on an expert assessment of parents, and the results of the study are also presented. Using the results obtained will allow us to identify psychotherapeutic targets and outline possible areas of psychocorrectional care for an autistic child in order to increase the adaptability of his/her behavior.
