Abstract
In the present scenario, peristaltic pump occupies special place in various fields of applications such food processing industries, chemical handling, testing and research, engineering and manufacturing sectors to pump the Newtonian and non-Newtonian fluids. Therefore while considering the peristaltic pump process parameters by analyzing the responses, there is a lot of conflicts between process parameters gathered based on its applications employed. In such cases the process parameters selection differs from application to application employed. In these aspects, it requires a new set of process parameters and new peristaltic pump. In order to avoid these conflicts in any application while pumping the Castroloil as a fluid, the present work has been carried out with Taguchi analysis. In the present work, the process parameters selected for conducting the experiments are speeds, number of rollers, and diameterof tubes in varying levels. Based on these process parameters, L25orthogonal array is considered from design of experiments to predict the peristaltic pump performances in terms of pressure, wave length, amplitude and discharge. The experimental responses are analyzed using Taguchi method under higher the better characteristic condition and the optimal process parameter settings have been proposed for each and every performance measures
