Linguistic competence as a factor of self-perfection motivation of future doctors

Abstract

The features of self-perfection motivation of future doctors in relation to their linguistic competence are defined in the article. Carrying out the analysis of scientific sources, the essence and structure of self-perfection motivation of future doctors are determined as a set of motivations for future specialists in the medical field aimed at increasing the level of professional knowledge, skills, competencies, personal, professional qualities to achieve professionally significant goals. The components of self-perfection motivation include value, emotional, target, activity, cognitive, volitional modules. The essence of the linguistic competence of future doctors is characterized as an integrative personality quality of future specialists in the medical field, combining linguistic knowledge, abilities, value orientations, motives, emotional and volitional processes of professional and personal communication aimed at the effective implementation of professional activities. The components of the linguistic competence of future doctors including linguistic awareness, linguistic activity, linguistic value, emotional stability, professional competitiveness are presented. Using the developed set of diagnostic techniques, the level of self-perfection motivation is determined: the average level of the studied phenomenon is observed in more than a half of the respondents, one third of the participants have a high level of the studied phenomenon, one tenth of future physicians demonstrate a low level of self-perfection motivation. A similar trend is observed in the level of linguistic competence of higher education applicants. Carrying out correlation and regression analyzes, the features of the influence of linguistic competence level of future doctors on the level of their self-perfection motivation were identified. It has been established that those higher education applicants who have a high level of linguistic competence have a high level of self-perfection motivation and vice versa. There is a direct correlation between self-perfection motivation of future doctors and their linguistic competence: the higher the level of linguistic competence, the higher the level of self-perfection motivation of future doctors. The fact that the linguistic competence of future doctors is a factor of their self-perfection motivation is proved; the level of self-perfection motivation depends on the linguistic competence level
