Abstract

The article focuses on the peculiarities of functional-grammatic structures with emotive causatives zum Lachen bringen, Freude bereiten, in Panik versetzen, Kummer bereiten, in eine Lage versetzen etc. The aim of the research is to consider the process of desemantization of emotive causatives in German and their language embodiment. The methods applied are those of contextual analysis, generalization and interpretation. The author describes the language means actualizing the sign of intensity in the context with emotive causatives. Emotive causatives are treated as causative verbs denoting interpersonal interaction, which leads to some modification of the emotionally mental state of an object. Causatives of different kind are revealed – those of positive, negative and axiologically neutral relevance. The research is carried out within the framework of functional grammar, when the semantic category of causation is in focus. As an result one can see that there is a change of meaning within the functional-grammatic causative construction, a verb actualizes some causative action, but the essential content of the situation with all its shades of meaning re concentrated in the noun group and are expressed by multilevel language means
