Abstract

An attempt has been made to evaluate the present status of the public libraries affiliated to the Kerala state library council, in Thrissur district of Kerala in terms of grade, infrastructural facilities, total collection of books, annual issues of books, no of periodicals and social activities etc. Possible suggestions are recommended for effective functioning of public libraries.
