THE SMERD'S PROBLEM: ANTHROPONIMICAL DIMENSION

The problem of smerds is considered through yet not used by the investigators the category of sources like birch bark. There was determined, that the names of the smerds are entire Slavic. The birch bark is also widely represented non-Slavic names, but their media never refer to themselves as smerds. In addition, it was found that often occur in two-part names of smerds, that is a separate issue, since it is assumed that dibasic names were people with high social status. The status of the smerds can not be named as high, in what almost all researchers agree the issue. Overall anthroponimics of smerds, as presented in the sources, no reason to agree with the I. Ya.
