Abstract

A retrospective analysis of 1553 case histories of the patients who received treatment for respiratory tuberculosis in the clinic of Grodno Regional Tuberculosis Dispensary was performed. The patients with alcohol dependence syndrome were divided into 2 groups. Group 1 included 160 patients who received treatment during 1992-2002 and group 2 ? 130 patients who were treated during 2003-2013. A comparative analysis revealed significant differences in the frequency of disseminated tuberculosis, prevalence rate of pulmonary tuberculosis, toxic syndrome and the time of the disease detection between the groups. The indicators of inpatient treatment efficacy of group 2 patients turned out to be preferable as compared to group 1 in which the elimination of toxicity and negative sputum smear were less frequent. It has been determined that long-term results of treatment of the patients with tuberculosis and alcohol dependence syndrome in group 2 are significantly higher as compared to group 1.
