Abstract

Background. The article presents the results of analytical and factual research which determined that tourism development depends on the interaction between global and local aspects, their complementarity and reorientation of global elements into the local context. The aim of the paper is the representation of method of spatial differentiation of tourism potential, which will enable to examine and assess the resource, consumer and infrastructure indicators of the tourism potential to enhance tourism within individual destinations. Results. It has been assumed that the study of spatial differentiation of tourism potential should be focused on identifying and evaluating resources, consumer and infrastructure factors of destination development. It has been proved that the assessment of the spatial differentiation of the tourism potential has deep practical importance to identify opportunities for tourism development at the level of individual regions. Evaluation of the integral value of potential of tourism destinations in the region showed high and low tourist potential destinations, and testified the untapped potential of the Carpathian region, which has attractive tourism and recreational resources, developed tourist infrastructure. It has been determined that to estimate the spatial differentiation of the tourist potential one should determine the coefficient of its inequal use. Determining factors of inequality, which show the ratio between the maximum and minimum values of tourist products sold by tourism enterprises and tourism potential index enabled to prove that regional uneven development of tourism is due to socio-economic instability of destinations. Conclusion. The results of testing methodologies for evaluating the spatial differentiation of the tourist potential showed that despite the uneven development of regional tourism regions of Ukraine have opportunities for both domestic and export models of tourism. Feasibility of forming an export-oriented model of tourism has been substantiated. This is because the tourist attraction depends on geopolitical rivalry and makes focus on foreign tourists that will consume tourist product on Ukrainian territory. The need for the development of new tourism products for more active involvement of tourism destinations resources in tourism turnover has been specified.
