Abstract
Kariz wells is a complex irrigation system, which is considered one of the most ambitious constructions of ancient farmers. This system consists of underground tunnels, ca- nals and small reservoirs to collect groundwater and meltwater, which are then displayed on the surface and irrigate cultivated land plots. Kariz irrigation system was prevalent in ancient times in Turkmenistan, the present territory of Uzbekistan East Turkestan. On the basis of his- torical data sources, scientific literature, and the author's observations is given new infor- mation about kariz (underground) irrigation system in the south of Uzbekistan (Surkhan oa- sis). New information ethnographic character introduced in the scientific revolution
