Abstract
Many people believe that mathematic is a difficult subject to be taught and learned. One of the characteristics of mathematic is to have an object that is abstract, it causes many students have difficulties in mathematics and teachers do not use interesting learning model so that students are less active in the learning process. Data obtained in the form of quantitative data. Data analysis used descriptive statistical analysis, with the kind of research is a classroom action research (PTK). Data were analyzed descriptively are: completeness learning and student activity with the research subjects were students of VII B class SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Surabaya.
The results of this study can be concluded mathematics achievement value of VII B class SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Surabaya students can be improved through a scientific approach in the learning process. First cycle with an average of 2.82, it increases about 25.89% from the value pretest. Second cycle increase 10.28% from first cycle with an average of 3.11. This shows that the students enjoy the learning process using this approach.
