Abstract
This article is devoted to the study of the problem of the terminological definition of the of Lviv polish historians of the late XIX century. An attempts were made to analyze the tradition of study of this problem, mainly, the problem of using the term "historical school" in relation to the Lviv polish historians of the second half of XIX century, in contemporary Polish and Ukrainian historical science. This analysis showed that very often in modern historical scholarship, the term "historical school" is used without a clear definition. It creates some problems for further specific research. Significant attention is paid to the views of contemporary Polish researcher E. Maternitsky at the problem of the definition of "historical school" and "historic environment" and their application concerning the Lviv Polish historians of the second half of XIX century. In this scientific paper gives examples of terminological definitions of the community of Lviv Polish historians of the second half of XIX century in Ukrainian and Polish historiographical tradition.
