Abstract

In this study, the topic of wisdom in poetries of Zuhayr b. Abî Sulmâ, a poem of mu‘allaqa, was studied. Wisdom, which is nascenced-in-words form of the essence of the experiences collected throughout the life, is the prevalent expression of the sayings that came wisely off the owner's words. Generally, the poets of the preislamic period hadn't handled the poems of wisdom as a seperate type of poems; however, they had interspersed their couplets full of wisdoms into the parts of the classical Arabic eulogies. The couplets that are full of wisdoms, which are the laconic expressions of the common values of the society, are in the form of pauses for the poet and the audience; and they have added a different spice and zest to the poetry. As the raw material of the poems of wisdoms is experiences; it becomes evident as a natural consequence that the audience, who are the respondents of the poem, find the emotions and the thoughts that express themselves, and admit the messages that the poems relay. It is possible to see the specialties like having the experiences as the source, being filtered from analytic thoughts, being accurate in a great scale and addressing the common sense of the society; as the basic lines that present the framework of the concept of the wisdom.
