THE SOFT SKILLS PROFILE OF FINAL YEAR STUDENTS MECHANICAL ENGINEERING EDUCATION AT UNIVERSITAS SARJANAWIYATA TAMANSISWA

Abstract
This research aims to determine: (1) an overview strengths and weaknesses Soft skills of final year students Mechanical Engineering Education at UST; and (2) attributes of Soft skills that still need to be developed to final year students Mechanical Engineering Education at UST. This research is a survey research using quantitative descriptive approach. The sampling technique using proportionate stratified random sampling. Samples were selected 59 students. The instrument used in the form of questionnaire about Soft skills assessment that assessed by the Apprentice Tutor III at Vocational High School. Data were analyzed with descriptive statistics with SPSS 19,00. The outcome of the research shows that (1) the quality of the Soft skills of students PTM has been good, with the acquisition of mean 263.86 and achieve percentages correction 76.48%; (2) the softskill attributes of each indicator within category enough, good, and excellent. The sequence of development adapted to the lowest calculation of the average value of each indicator that initiative, time management, teamwork, analytical abilities, verbal communication, creative, solve problems, motivation, listening, critical thinking, willingness to learn, be able to summarize, to argue logically, management self, reliable, resilient, cooperatives, committed, independent, able to cope with stress, passionate, ethical, and flexible.
