Abstract
In the article we study the material conditions of functioning of the village primary schools of Naddnepryanshchina and features of school children's lives in the post-war period. Primary school resumed its work, had small rooms, classrooms where was needed repair. In the cold season there were constant problems with heating. Through a large number of children the training took place in two-three replacement. During training the pupils and teachers had lacked school furniture, educational equipment, textbooks, notebooks, ink. As a rule, school meals consisted of simple foods that the children brought from home. When the children had not food to take to school - they were hungry the entire school day. The possibility to attend school directly depended on the presence or absence of clothes (especially the top-coat) and foot-wear (particularly warm – boots, shoes) in a child.
