Abstract

In this work we compare evaluation of in uence on environment of open cut and underground coal mining based on analysis of statistical data of the coal companies in terms of wastewater discharges into water bodies and emissions of polluting substances in atmospheric air, volumes of placement of overburden and enclosing rocks in the external waste dumps, the area of disturbed lands. As the evaluation criteria we use speci c indicators of technogenic impact on the environment and speci c indicators of payments for negative impact on the environment and the unit costs for reclamation of disturbed lands. It is been established the open method of coal mining is different from the underground method as it has higher speci c indicators of waste disposal and disturbance of land and the lower relative performance in terms of ef uent wastewater discharges into water bodies and emissions of pollutants into the atmosphere. The total value of speci c indicators of payments for negative impact on the environment and the cost of reclamation of the open method of coal mining are 2,3 times more than the underground method.
