Abstract
A high gain interleaved DC-DC converter using built-in transformer voltage multiplier cell (VMC) is proposed. Built-in transformer voltage multiplier cell is inserted into the conventional interleaved boost converter which in turn provides higher voltage gain ratio without extreme duty cycle. Compared to a similar conventional converter with transformer voltage multiplier cells, the number of switches are reduced in the proposed high gain converter. Voltage stress across the diode and capacitors are reduced and the voltage level across these diodes and capacitors are lesser than the output voltage level. This in turn reduces the relative losses and Electro Magnetic Interference (EMI) problem. Diode peak current and ripples are minimized. Reliability of switches are enhanced by applying Zero Current Switching (ZCS) technique. MATLAB is used for simulating the proposed DC-DC converter and the results are validated with the experimental prototype.
