Abstract
In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, natives of Russian provincial towns started to get education in Moscow and St. Petersburg. The same is true of the art and architecture education as Moscow College of painting, sculpture and architecture was considered one of the leading educational establishments. Alexander Vikentievich Kholopov (1880–1942), a native and the first architect and painter of the Komi Republic, is an example of those who entered the College. The article also concerns the importance of his studying period in the formation of the future architect. The article focuses on the only one project, which was made during his studies. It is a project of a bell-tower made for E. G. Arsenieva. The project speaks of A. V. Kholopov as a mature architect who is familiar with modern style.
