Abstract
The article is devoted to the interpretation of the writer-satirist Saltykov-Shchedrin of the Russian national destiny. The author of the article demonstrates the peculiarity of the Russian world in the works of the writer: the connection
with folklore tradition, space and time relations, dynamics and statics. The analysis of Saltykov′s works shows the deepest conflict in the Russian reality. The author researches the attempts of the writer to solve the most difficult social and moral problems for the country in the dramatic transition period. Saltykov-Shchedrin, as other Russian writers, understood the historic process and felt the personal responsibility of the motherland destiny.
