Abstract
The main purpose of the article is to make an emphasis on Auguste Mariette's role in popularizing of jewelry traditions of Ancient Egypt in Europe in the second half of the 19th century. The text tells about the activities of Mariette, which contributed to the adoption of Egyptian motifs in the European jewelry art since the mid‑19th century. Mostly it depended on the achievements of archaeology and the expositions of The Universal exhibitions in 1862, 1867 and 1878. During the 1850's there were found the biggest complexes of ancient Egyptian jewels in the Serapeum of Saqqara and in the tomb of the queen Ahhotep that were known at that time. Thanks to The Universal exhibitions thousands of people were able to see the objects found during the excavations. As result the Egyptian images found expression in oeuvre of many jewels makers of the second half of the 19th century.
