Abstract
Background. Currently, there is a tendency to increase the frequency of purulent epiduritis. The problem is topical, because it is associated with long terms of hospitalization and rehabilitation of patients. Purpose. To demonstrate the importance of proper multidisciplinary approach to the intensive care of septic pathology of the central nervous system. Material and methods. A case of successful treatment of a patient with severe sepsis is presented. The source of infection was a total epiduritis complicated by organ dysfunction. Results. Timely performed surgery (laminectomy, incision and drainage of the abscess), antibacterial (meropenem and teicoplanin i.v. and dioxidine endolumbarly) and detoxification (infusion) therapy maximized the effectiveness of treatment. Conclusions. The presented case demonstrates the importance of an integrated approach to the management of patients with severe infectious diseases. The maximum efficiency of intensive therapy and rehabilitation can be achieved only after adequate surgical sanitation of the focus.
