Abstract

Adrienne Rich in her poetry of 1970's appeared as a much mature poet with her concerns more oriented towards comprehending various selves of a human being- the private self, the public self, the political self, the poetic personas and self and so on and along with it desires to build bridge amongst these sundry selves. To achieve this she connects private and public life of the protagonists of her volume. Instead of rejecting masculine power like a staunch feminist, she envisions remedy for men, if they have to develop their strength and reconsiders man-woman relationship from a new angle. Rejecting gender politics she tries to build bond among people at global level. She is concentrated on issues of “wreck” done to contemporary society.
