The Relationship between Emotional Intelligence and Organizational Commitment with Career Expectations in Business Life: Primary School Teachers Health and Social Support Fund

Abstract
The importance of emotional intelligence is increasing in work and social life. For employers, emotional intelligent has become very significant criteria along with education, knowledge, skill, and ability in today's competitive world. It is believed that high emotional intelligence will bring plus value in recruitments and it will contribute more to the enterprise. It is also expected that employees will fulfill their career plans, have job satisfaction, and organizational commitment thanks to emotional intelligence. In this study the influence of emotional intelligence on organizational commitment and career is analyzed. In this respect, the influence of emotional intelligence is examined in detail in terms of the detection of factors affecting career. For that purpose, questionnaires are held to personnel who worked in the years 2015-2016 at Primary School Teachers Health and Provident Fund General Directorate. The Organizational Commitment Scale developed by Meyer and Allen (1991) and the Emotional Intelligence Scale developed by Schutte et al. (1998) were used in this study. The career expectation scale was developed in the light of the expert opinion. The data obtained in the study were analyzed using SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) for Windows 22.0 program. It has been found that employees with high levels of emotional intelligence have higher career expectations, but lower organizational commitment levels.
