THE METAPHORICAL POTENTIAL OF THE LEXEME HEAD AS THE BASIC ELEMENT OF THE SOMATIC PRASEOLOGICAL UNITS (BASED ON THE CHINESE AND ENGLISH LANGUAGES)

This article is devoted to the description of the token head as the nominee of the most important part of the body, which has a sufficiently voluminous lexicographical interpretation, including direct and indirect meanings in Chinese and English. Indirect meanings are predominantly associated with the metaphorical potential of the token, allowing it to have a variety of collocations and transmitting various values in stable expressions of varying degrees of coalescence. In this article, we will try to study the meaning of the token head in Chinese and English, pay attention to the metaphorical potential of semantics, and determine the general and particular directions for the development of the semantics of the basic element of somatic phraseology.
