Abstract
The purpose of the article to reveal the specific of the genre of mini-opera in the context of musical and theatre traditions in the 20 th century. The choice of the subject is connected with increasing attention of composers and researchers to the Opera of small form, particularly to the mini-opera. The article presents the historical and typological aspects of mini-opera, researches the evolution of the Opera of small form in general, analyzes possible ways of the development of the genre. In the result, it was found that the mini-opera is one of the perspective directions in the contemporary music theatre
