Abstract

The success of professional work in many areas largely depends on the communicative competence of professionals. These areas include social work. Culture of professional communication of a social worker is socially meaningful indicator of skills, ability to build relationships with other people, perceive and understand, acquire and transfer the contents of thoughts, feelings and aspirations in the process of solving the problems arising in the course of professional activity. Professional culture does not arise spontaneously, by itself. It is based on certain conditions for professional activity. Successful implementation of communication tasks involves high culture of speech behaviour of a social worker, posession of methods of improvisation, dialogization, expressivity. The essential features of culture behaviour of any person, a social worker including, is a system of national-specific stereotypes, resistant forms of communication designed to establish and maintain contacts. At the present stage students must possess knowledge of a foreign language as a means of intercultural communication, which suggests the need for formation of their social-cultural competence. The changes, taking place in our country, namely the increase of foreign contacts, activation of the European and global integration, could not but affect the social status of a foreign language. The article discusses the role of verbal competence in the formation of a culture of foreign professional communication of future social workers. Every act of professional communicative interaction requires speech creativity since it is built while taking into account many factors − communication situations, individuality of a communication partner, his/her emotional state, the relationship between communication partners, etc. Social workers in the communication process needs constant correction of own behaviour after the received feedback from the partner on communication − verbal and nonverbal. The author of the article has stressed that the aim of the study of a foreign language by todays students, future social workers, is foreign language competence of the individual, and the desired result − the use of a foreign language as a means of communication, enriching of experience of training. The main focus is on the need to develop communication skills in the process of training of future social workers. Thus, possessing the culture of foreign language communication, participants can create a friendly and welcoming or official-business (protocol) communication atmosphere. High quality of learning of a foreign language promotes competitiveness and professional mobility in professional activities. Mastering foreign communicative competence is about the learning a foreign language at a level that will be enough to meet the professional needs, implementation of business contacts and further professional improvement.
