Abstract

The article considers the issue of choice of forms and methods of work on the development of communication skills of students at the English lessons. The author emphasizes the importance of the choice of a system of exercises and creative tasks in the development of students` communication skills. It is also necessary to take into account the opportunities offered by the development of communication skills of students participating in scientific, extracurricular work, creating appropriate conditions for their effective independent work. While solving the communication problem, we should take into consideration the fact that the students with different levels of English knowledge may have difficulty both in terms of content and in terms of expression, learning communication means of solving communication problems can be seen as a problem, and in this case we should talk about two aspects of problematic character. One of them lies in a search for adequate linguistic means of self-expression. In the focus of another there is an aspect of the problem as a logical category. Discussion of issues can be used as a means of rendering. A lot of the speech exercises are communicative by their nature. They are divided into those that form both prepared and unprepared speech. In the exercises for speech training we distinguish different types associated with overcoming of purely formal difficulties, or both formal and semantic (such as "give the synonyms of the word, explain the difference between the sentences utterances", "choose the equivalent of word"). As for the development of an unprepared speech, one should remember that such exercises can be based on a certain source of information (stories in their native language, photography, film), based on the experience of students (facts which have been read or seen). A particularly important type of tasks is asking various types of questions that usually causes some difficulties in students. However, the main work in the development of communication skills should be the devising of creative tasks and exercises that are active forms and means of development of creative abilities in terms of active thinking, memory improving, updating acquired knowledge and skills. The author also suggests using the techniques that allow comprehend material; handle all known knowledge, put them in certain circumstances, to seek new solutions to the goal, to improve their communicative skills, to use them in new situations, to create original creative products. Development of a typology of tasks aimed at developing communication skills, should be based on general didactic provisions that reveal the essence of teaching and learning objectives, approaches to their classification, specific complex system problems for certain groups of students and the requirements for their use in training and educational process.
