Abstract

Introduction. The current pace of development in all areas of human life requires radical changes in the education system, in particular changes in approaches to the educational process. The implementation of student government helps to increase its effectiveness. Purpose. The article is an analysis of the principles and approaches used in the formation of the student government in Sahnivka school, Korsun-Shevchenkiv district, Cherkasy region. It studies the main conditions for an effective student government created in Oleksandr Zakharenko's experimental school. It determines that the structure of student government contributed to overcoming formalism. Representatives of the student body had the opportunity to participate actively in the process of goal-setting, i.e. they were involved in determining the strategic development of the institution. Thanks to the existence of effective forms of student government, there emerges a creative community between the teachers and the students, which positively affects all the participants of the educational process. The students who take responsibility for conducting school meetings tend to develop executive and organizational skills. The article reveals the mechanisms of training the leaders of student NGOs. In Sahnivka school it was carried out based on Makarenko's duty and responsibility rotation system. Originality. Oleksandr Zakharenko's ideas on the principles of student government can be the basis for creating an effective educational system of a modern education institution to ensure the organization of rational and content-rich extracurricular activities and student entertainment, which is one of the tasks of student self-government. Conclusion. Exploring Oleksandr Zakharenko's ideas makes it possible to realize the importance of student government in creating a united student body capable of carrying out important school activities.
