COMPETENCE IN PROVIDING FIRST AID AS AN OBLIGATORY COMPONENT OF A PHARMACIST’S PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCE

Abstract

The proposed article the question of competence to provide first aid as a mandatory component of professional competence pharmacist. The requirements on the formation of professional competence of future pharmacist and its components, and expertise to provide first aid as an integral part of the professional, that is, apart from the existing level of professional knowledge, formation activities such methods as "ability", "ability", " readiness" to perform their professional duties. Emphasized the importance of forming competence to provide first aid, as a pharmacist is a valuable representative of the healthcare industry, pharmacy – a healthcare institution, so the pharmacist is not only a seller of medicines and, if necessary, must provide first aid until arrival specialist. Also the relevance of acquiring expertise in providing first aid due to statistics that show that the leading cause of death in Europe and Ukraine in particular, are diseases of the circulatory system (67,3%) and sudden cardiac arrest is the cause of death in 60% of patients with coronary heart disease in 40–50% of cases of sudden cardiac death is the first and only sign of disease. In 25–50% of primary cardiac arrest rhythms is defibrillation rhythms (ventricular fibrillation and ventricular tachycardia without pulse), and the level of intervention, which certainly improves survival in a sudden stop circulation (immediate start and the quality of CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation), continuous, high quality chest press and early defibrillation in cases of cardiac arrest rhythms in defibrillator) completely available for the capture of not only physicians, but also ordinary citizens. The article stated the role of motivational axiological, social and personal components of professional competence of pharmacists as the basis for the formation of competence in providing first aid, as well as providing first aid should be considered not only as an obligation, but as a manifestation of high moral and personal qualities that are implemented understand the need for acquiring knowledge and practical skills in providing first aid, as an integral part of professional competence, and readiness to provide it if necessary. The concept of "health first", "First Aid", "accident", and disclosed the volume of activities and interventions in the provision of first aid. Determined that the competence to provide first aid is a required component of professional competence of pharmacists and manifests its willingness and capacity as a representative of the healthcare industry, realizing their duty to society, and the relevance of (motivational-axyological component), based on the acquired knowledge and skills not only a highly specialized and related disciplines (cognitive component) and constantly improving them, according to the latest developments in medical science (professional-activity component) having psychological stability and mastered the situation (socio-personal component) to provide the first aid until the arrival of skilled care. Article expertise to provide first aid in future pharmacist defined as – a willingness and ability to recognize life-threatening condition in a patient or victim assistance promptly cause, provide first aid (stop bleeding overlay dressings, drug submission (within its competence)), and in the case of cardiac arrest to ensure the high quality of resuscitation and be able to use AED (automated external defibrillator).
