Abstract
In the article, the history of appearance, formation and development of classical education model (as sociocultural institute) from Ancient Greek paideia up to the modern times is considered. The authors note that education is beyond individual's personal culture, it is the concealed basis of human culture, without which culture cannot exist. Culture itself has rise in education as a necessity to acquire, preserve and transfer of experience and knowledge accumulated by society.
