Abstract
The article is devoted to the analysis of the lexico-semantic groups of verbs. The main stress is done on the verbs denoting the process of food preparation. The material for the research is J. Vysotskaya and J. Oliver's recipes. The following groups of verbs are singled out: verbs denoting the stages of food preparation, verbs denoting the dishes service, verbs connecting with food crumbling, phrasal verbs relating to the duration of food preparation and others. Furthermore, the article dwells upon the peculiarities of the recipes as the special kind of text. The article highlights different points of view of the recipes nature and concludes that recipe's functions consist in informing, educating and instructing the cooker
