Abstract

Introduction. The article contains an analysis of the state and trends of the material and technical base of higher medical educational institutions in Ukraine at the end of the 20th and the beginning of the 21st centuries. Medical education belongs to those branches of higher education, which are most closely connected with the technique. Therefore, to understand the state and trends of modern medical education, it is necessary to characterize its material basis. The purpose of the article is to generalize and identify trends in the development of material and technical base of higher medical educational institutions of Ukraine at the end of the XX – the beginning of the XXI centuries. Results. The article highlights the main components of the material and technical base that provide the organization of educational process within the educational institution itself. It is revealed that the educational process is directly dependent on the educational environment formed by the buildings and constructions in which this process takes place, the elements of interiors and special educational equipment (laboratory, informational, etc.). The direction of changes in the material and technical base of medical universities in Ukraine was conditioned during this period by the functional needs of educational institutions, in particular, the volume of academic work, the number of students and teachers, the diversity of areas of study and specialties, the principle of compact placement and the need for spatial relationships between related educational areas. The development of the material base was influenced also by the changes in the content of the educational process, new requirements for the environment and technical means of training. Conclusion. It is concluded that the existing material and technical base as a whole satisfied the functional needs of medical universities of Ukraine in the late XX – early XXI centuries. The emergence of new academic disciplines, the achievement of medical science, and the informatization of medicine led to the refurbishment of old and equipment of new educational apartments in medical universities of Ukraine.
