Abstract
The article presents the research data of social representations of the Ryazan people about stereotypes of «success» and career growth of a woman outside the cities with a million population. In the Russian society there is an opinion that only in the capital or other large cities there is an opportunity to achieve career heights. Many people, including women, move from small towns to cities with a population of one million to build a career. The aim of the study was to study the social representation of the Ryazan people about the stereotypes of «success» and the career growth of women outside the cities with a million population. Research methods: theoretical - comparison and generalization of the theoretical analysis on the research topic; practical - verbal and communicative, questioning - semi-standardized interview; mathematical statistics - Kruskal-Wallis H-criterion.
The study showed how different the opinions of people of adolescent, mature and retirement ages, as well as men and women, on the following questions: why there is an increase in the number of women careerists; Does the society expect different behavior from men and women in the professional sphere? whether a woman can be a leader; What barriers can women stand in the way of a high-status position and do they exist at all? what would have changed if women had had more power and access to decision-making important for social development;whether there is a growth of women-careerists in cities with a population of less than 1 million people; whether the Ryazan woman wants to build a career, and whether she has the opportunity to do so; how a woman should distribute her time between work and family; how should household responsibilities be shared between a man and a woman.
