Abstract
The article analyzes the results of a study of the Samarkand construction culture based on archaeological materials of Afrasiab. During excavations the frame house of the XI - XII centuries, which repr esents one of popular house plannings in Samarkand and Bukhara till the 20th century has been found in the object No 47. This planning, which has traditionally developed throughout many centuries, differs in conservatism of basic elements of a design. The e xcavated house allows to reveal some features of the topography and social structure of Afrasiab in the era of the Karakhanids.
