Abstract
The article deals with the specificity of romantic grotesque in E. T. A. Hoffman’s works “Little Zaches” and “The Golden Pot”. The purpose of the article is the interpretation of E. T. A. Hoffmann’s specificity of romantic grotesque. For purpose achieving there is the task: to find and describe the grotesque uniqueness in such E. T. A. Hoffman’s works as “Little Zaches” and “The Golden Pot”. The paper proves that in E. T. A. Hoffman’s poetic outlook the world and the man are united due to the game of different nature inspired ties. It is concluded that the specificity of romantic grotesque in the analyzed works is determined by the motive of lowering; ambivalence; mask motive; doll-puppets images; grotesque transformations etc.
