Malaria, behavior in the Emergency Bank of the Libolo Municipal Hospital, Kwansa Sul, Angola

Abstract

A descriptive, longitudinal and retrospective study was carried out to characterize the behavior of malaria in 12,616 patients seen at the Emergency Bank of Libolo Municipal Hospital in Kwansa Sul, Republic of Angola, from May 2014 to June 2017. The variables investigated were age, sex, type of plasmodium, forms of presentation of the disease and complications according to type of plasmodium. The primary data was obtained from the processes of observation and internment, complementary examinations and worksheets. Prevalence of the male sex, the group of 0 to 4 years of age and Plasmodium falciparum. The most frequent complications were severe anemia and cerebral malaria. It was concluded that malaria is an important health problem and its behavior reflects the existence of health inequalities, as well as the need to undertake health interventions.
