Abstract

Actuality. One of important tasks of the modern pharmacy is development and introduction of import substitution medical drugs, in particular herbal medical drugs. Herbal drugs are well compatible with synthetic drugs, and in reasonable combination with them may significantly enhance the therapeutic effect. Of most interest are drugs possessing immunostimulating effect and increasing resistance of an organism to pathogenic influences. Aim. The aim of the work was study of aqueous extracts with determination of parameters of their quality. Materials and Methods. The object of study was aqueous extracts of Echinacea herb obtained from finely ground raw material packed in packages and powdered raw material packed in filter bags, according to the information given on the package, and from raw material in packages according to methods SF XIII. In the obtained aqueous extracts there were determined: definition, pH, dry residue. Besides, Echinacea tincture was authenticated by the presence of phenol compounds in tests with ferric (III) chloride, and the quantities of the active substances were also determined. The results of the study were statistically processed. Results. By description the aqueous extracts of Echinacea herb were clear colored liquids of brown color of different intensity and with a characteristic aromatic odor. Values of the dry residue were in the range from 0.15 to 1.47%; рН from 6.10 до 7.43; the content of hydrocinnamic acid from 0.015 to 0.071%, the differences attributed to differences in formulation and technology of preparation of aqueous extracts of Echinacea herb. Conclusions. It was shown in the work that it is more reasonable to prepare aqueous extracts of Echinacea herb according to the formulation and method of GFA “Tinctures and Decoctions”, which yields the highest sum of extractive and active substances as compared to aqueous extracts obtained by customers in home conditions according to formulation and technology given in the instructions on packages of the herbal drugs.
