Abstract

The article presents a review of literary data on contemporary views on the choice of the method for restoring anatomical form of the tooth and materials which are used. In modern clinical practice dentists are offered methods of direct, indirect and semi-direct restoration for replacement of defects of hard tooth tissues. On the basis of the literature analysis, it was concluded that an index of destruction of the occlusal tooth surface (IROPZ) can provide assistance in choosing the method of restoring a broken tooth crown and diagnosis. This index is also used today in the "post-Soviet countries". The world dentistry community relies on other indicators. In particular, "intercuspal distance" or the classification of cavities SI / STA (linking the location and size of cavities), which determines the treatment method based on the stage of the process and its localization. As objectively decide on the method of treatment, none of the available classifications does not allow researchers pay much attention to improve the known methods of assessment of teeth and size of defects for future regenerative correct choice of design and materials for them. One can conclude that today there is a lack of unified approach to the choice of methods for treating defects in hard tissues of teeth. Thus, the problem of choosing a method for treating defects in hard dental tissues needs to be thoroughly studied.
