Abstract
Aluminum alloy has multiple applications in manufacturing structures such as light weight frames, marine structures etc. All these applications require higher strength as well as higher corrosion resistance. The present research focuses primarily on impact of operational parameters of friction stir welding process on aluminum joints. The specimens have been produced with experimentation using three levels gauged on three process parameters i.e., TRS, TS and TA. We performed the experiments according to the L9 Taguchi orthogonal array. Multi objective GRA (grey relational analysis) joined with weight method was used for simultaneous optimization of the input process parameters. Optimal level obtained by GRA is described. One of the highly significant factors is TS followed by TRS. The tool tilt angle has no significant impact on the response characteristics. An improvement of 0.0106 in GRG value is observed.
