Abstract

Liquid soap is a liquid parmaceutical product used to cleanse the skin, made of soap base material by the addition of surfactants, foam stabilizers, preservatives, dyes and perfumes that are allowed and used for liquid without irritating the skin. This study aims to determine the effect of olive oil concentrations at the range of 12.5%, 25%, and 37.5% on the physical stability of liquid soap preparations and to know the hedonic test of these pharmaceutical product. This liquid soap formulation comprises olive oil, sodium lauryl sulfate, KOH, glycerin, CMC-Na, coco-DEA, methyl paraben, propyl paraben, ethanol, stearic acid, nitric acid, essential oil lavender, aquadest. Prior to the hedonic test, an evaluation of the preparation is performed. The result of physical properties evaluation showed that liquid soap of formula II with 25% olive oil concentration yielded thick texture, with golden yellow color and typical flavor of lavender, and weighs 1.098 gram/mL, and 220 mL foam produced flow viscosity thixotropic with a pH of 9.75. In the hedonic test the highest satisfaction is found in formula II.
