Abstract

The article concerns culture-creative resources of myth as a universal phenomenon of human mind and culture and, above all, the analysis of its creative educational potential, its role in the development of personality. The existential contours of education as a myth-generating context of culture are described. In this context myth primarily serves as a mediator in communicative space between "I" and "the Other". It is proved that the confidence (con-fidence) relation, as a simultaneous orientation of an individual to himself and to the surrounding world, is a significant factor of actualization of myth as a specific mechanism to retain "Self" and "the Other" in a same existential stream. Mythological base of the meaning-forming processes in educational space are analyzed within the framework of re-mythologizing approach. Author outlined the tendency of structural transformations of myth (its «conversions» and simplifications) in educational space. It is shown that the educational discourse contains cultural patterns and stereotypes (simplified semantic complexes), which implicitly represent myths and myth-like elements. Specific mythological features of education in contemporary socio-cultural situation are highlighted.
