Standards applying to bibliographic descriptions, data exchange formats and more recently for linked data are crucial in the work of libraries. The paper focuses on the features of modern standardization in libraries according to the Law of Ukraine «About Standardization» (2016) and highlights the necessity of bringing library standards in line with international and European practice. The work on the «Resource Description and Access» - International cataloging standard designed for the e-environment is being described as an example.
