METAPHORICAL PERCEPTİONS OF SECONDARY SCHOOL 8TH GRADE STUDENTS TOWARD CITIZENSHIP

Abstract
The aim of this study is todetermine Citizenshipand Democracy Education in secondary school students taking the course for the metaphorical sense of citizenship. The study was surveyed in city center of Sivas, in the town center and district in the center of town in four different secondary schools, in 2014-2015 academic year. The study was conducted on a group of 97 people from 8th grade students attending these schools academic. Volunteer students were included in the study. The students completed the phrase of “Citizenship is like ……………… because ………….”to indicate their conceptualization the perception of citizenship. The metaphors and their common features were identified by means of these forms. Content analysis method was used to analyze the data. Students' metaphors were collected under three categories. These categories are “relationships", "system", "right-homework”.
