Abstract

Aim. To analyze the results of bacteriological examination of inoculation of urine of patients with BPH, to compare the peculiarities of the postoperative period in patients depending on the results of inoculation of urine for flora and for sensitivity to antibacterial drugs. Materials and Methods. 220 medical histories were analyzed. 127 Patients underwent cystostomy for complications of benign prostatic hyperplasia, 93 patients were operated on in one step. The following characteristics were studied: the type of a microorganism in urine inoculation, age of patients, postoperative complications, administration of antibacterial drugs in the postoperative period, duration of stay in hospital in postoperative period (bed-days). Statistical processing of the results was carried out using Statistica software package with use of non-parametric Mann-Whitney test with evaluation of interquartile intervals. Statistically significant were considered differences at р Results. The analysis revealed a hospital resistant strain of a microorganism in 78.2% of patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia with cystostomy in history. In the group of patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia, operated on in one stage, this parameter was 6.5%. The number of postoperative complications was 5.75 times higher in the group of ostomy patients. Conclusion. The risk of postoperative complications could be possibly minimized through use of minimally invasive techniques of surgical treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia. The number of complications after one-stage operations was 5.75 times lower than after operations performed after the cystostomy stage.
