Abstract

The aim of the investigation was to evaluate the effectiveness of hydrocarbonate sodium mineral water use in pancreatic dysfunctional conditions in patients with chronic gastroenterological pathology and different level of diabetes mellitus risk. 46 patients with associated chronic gastroenterological pathology were examined beyond the acute period on the background of different levels of diabetes mellitus risk. The risk for diabetes mellitus development has been evaluated using FINnish Diabetes Risk Score. The complex treatment of patients included the course of different drinking of bottled mineral water “Luzhanska”. At the beginning and by the end of treatment secretory function of pancreas has been studied in the different stages of digestion cycle – fasting period and during two hours after meals. Several laboratory indices of latent forms of metabolic acidosis (urinary excretion of titrated acids and ammonium) were also detected. It was testified that the course of bicarbonate so-dium mineral water use is an effective method of func-tional pancreatic dysfunctions correction, as well as ac-companying metabolic disorders in patients with comor-bid gastroenterological pathology, and in particular with an increased risk of development of diabetes mellitus. The decrease of the frequency of pancreatic hyposecretion and its degree, especially in the postprandial secretion period was revealed by the end of treatment. The secretory pancreatic reaction on the physiological food test increased by 22.4 %. Positive metabolic changes concerned latent metabolic acidosis were found, which were manifested in the decrease by 37.0-55.0 % the level of urinary excretion of titrated acids and by 27,0-43,0 % - ammonium in patients with both elevated and low risk of diabetes. In patients with a low risk of diabetes in the dynamics of treatment revealed an increase by 10 % of urine ph. The trend to decrease the elevated levels of glucose in blood was observed in patients with increased risk of diabetes mellitus. The obtained results determine the purposeful-ness of natural hydrocarbonate sodium water in prevent-ing the development of carbohydrate metabolism disor-ders and diabetes at patients with comorbid gastroentero-logical pathology.
