The "Child" semantic field structure is examined in the article. The research object is the lexical system of contemporary Russian language; the subject are words and phrases, which denominate children, their characteristics, the subject and social world. Conclusions that the "Child" semantic field includes set of the microfields, lexico-semantic groups and subgroups are drawn. The central lexical groups are "Child (Children) as Object of Naming", "Child (Children) as Object of the Characteristic on Properties, Qualities", "Child as Carrier of Constants or Permanent Signs, Properties", "Periods in Child's Life"; "The Actions, States, Processes Typical for Children", "Realities of the Children's World" are refer to the lexical groups, remote in different degree from the center, similar to the lexical unions of "The Names of Actions, Processes, Results of Actions of Adults in relation towards Children", etc. A number of factors influences the formation of new lexical units of the analyzed field; the main thing from them is development in modern Russian society of the children's sphere.
