Abstract
Solid primary mesenteric tumors are rare lesions. They are usually gastrointestinal stromal tumors or smooth muscle tumors. GISTs were formerly designated as leiomyomas or leiomyosarcoma of the GI tract, but they differ in nature from true leiomyoma or leiomyosarcomas. Treatment is surgical excision. Excision may require bowel resection which can be determined only intraoperatively.
